For the past 23 years, Rayarna has been employed in the legal industry. Following completing high school in Sydney NSW she has been employed in just about every facet of private law firms. In 2008 she had her children and decided to study law during their first 5 years, studying through James Cook University and was admitted to practice law on 24 October 2014. Since then, she has been an Associate to a Supreme Court Justice and employed as a lawyer in private law firms including previously at Donnie Harris Law and for the Department of Justice. She believes that each role has expanded her knowledge and fed her love of the law. She holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and has obtained a Certificate from Griffith University “Making sense of the Criminal Justice System”.
Since admission, she has gained experience in a number of areas of law including family law, domestic violence, child safety, court work and advocacy, personal injuries including motor vehicle accidents, WorkCover Claims, public liability, general litigation and debt recovery.
At Donnie Harris Law she will practice exclusively in family law assisting clients with their family law matters including property settlement, parenting matters and divorce and domestic violence. She is collaboratively trained and passionate about assisting families to achieve outcomes in an amicable way and navigating family law pathways including pre-action procedures and litigation, should that become necessary. She is skilled in mediation, negotiation and advocacy and always strives to get the best possible outcome for her clients.
Her strengths are her ability to connect with people, being down to earth with a communication style that is friendly and authentic. It is her wish to assist people through family law issues as amicably and practically as possible, especially when children are involved.
In her spare time, she also volunteers with Townsville Rotary Saints and has received a Rotary District Award for Service to the Community and with Townsville Community Law providing family law advice. She is also a mum to 16 year old twins and through them has been active in the rowing, basketball and singing community throughout Townsville.
She is a member of the QLD Law Society and Townsville & District Law Association and has obtained the following qualifications:
